Line Operations Safety Audit

For flight, maintenance, and ramp operations

A LOSA Program May Reduce Your Insurance Premiums!

The Aviation Consulting Group provides LOSA training and consulting for aviation operators that would like to implement a Flight, Maintenance, or Ramp LOSA program within their company. In addition to LOSA principles and techniques, our LOSA training course also presents an in-depth look at Threat and Error Management (TEM). Because TEM is the basis of LOSA, a solid understanding of TEM is a prerequisite for valid LOSA observations.

General Concepts of LOSA

The FAA defines a LOSA as "a formal process that requires expert and highly trained observers to observe operations in real-time and to collect safety-related data on environmental conditions, operational complexity, and human performance. Confidential data collection and non-jeopardy assurance are fundamental to the process." These data provide a peek into the real-time operating environment and are complementary to other proactive/predictive safety data collection programs such as FOQA, ASAP, and MOQA. All of these programs will be tied into your Safety Management System.

***All airlines that are, or are intending to be, listed in the IOSA Registry should have a LOSA program in place. The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is the benchmark for global safety management in airlines!***

LOSA Data Services

Conducting LOSA observations is just part of the overall LOSA process. The real work begins once all the data are collected. These data need to be cleaned/verified, analyzed, and written up in a professional report that will be read by management and other decision-makers in your organization. TACG now offers a variety of LOSA data solutions that can save you time, money, and frustration. These solutions include:

bullet

LOSA software

bullet

Data management on our customized, confidential, secure servers

bullet

Comprehensive data analysis with statistical procedures

bullet

LOSA report writing (we can write your full report and make it "ready to present to management")

bullet

Collaborative data cleaning/integrity check

bullet

Inclusion in Line Operations Safety Audit Data Exchange (LOSADE). LOSADE is a benchmarking database that can be used to see how you are doing compared to other, similar operators
