The Aviation Consulting Group provides LOSA/TEM
training and consulting for air service providers worldwide. Our LOSA/TEM course is designed for large and
small airlines as well as charter, corporate and business aviation operators
that would like to
implement their own LOSA/TEM programs. Our course includes a train-the-trainer element so
that you can train your employees to conduct LOSA's within your own organization. In addition to LOSA principles and
techniques the course also presents an in-depth look at Threat and Error
Management. Because TEM is the basis of LOSA, a solid understanding of TEM
is a prerequisite for valid LOSA observations.
According to the FAA, a LOSA is "a formal process that requires expert and highly trained
observers to ride the jumpseat during regularly scheduled flights to collect
safety-related data on environmental conditions, operational complexity, and
flightcrew performance. Confidential data collection and non-jeopardy assurance
for pilots are fundamental to the process." These data provide a peak into
the real-time operating environment and are complementary to other proactive
safety data collection programs such as FOQA and ASAP. All of these programs
will be tied into your eventual, or current, functional
Safety
Management System (SMS).
